Why do you sell a business?

As many owners and entrepreneurs work toward growing their business, a question that may frequently be asked by those around them is: “Would you ever sell the business?" In our experience at Neul Capital Holdings, this is typically the last thing on the owner's mind and can be quite difficult to answer.

Many questions may arise but some of the first things that we asked were:

  1. What would happen to our employees?
  2. How would the product and direction be affected?
  3. What would happen to our clients and customers that have trusted our service(s)?
  4. Who would manage the business moving forward?

While the growing list of the questions can seem endless to navigate, those four questions stood out in particular to our team at Neul Capital Holdings. When the day finally arrived and we decided to exit, the whirlwind that ensued challenged everyone. However, we felt very fortunate to find a home that left the business in better hands for both the employees and our customers. How we got to that conclusion and all of the processes in-between is something that we navigated and learned a great deal about in real time. As we moved on from the acquisition, we asked ourselves: “Could we provide a better option to sellers that would help bridge the gaps that we weren’t aware of throughout this process? How could we simplify this for other business owners and apply many of the lessons we learned from our own experiences?”

It is Neul Capital's mission to provide our extensive knowledge and valuable resources to business owners interested in learning how to sell a business and gain a strong partnership in the process. We believe in educating and providing an alternative that can mitigate the vast challenges seen in the marketplace today.

While we believe that Neul Capital has a great deal to offer and will provide a great home for any potential seller, not all scenarios will be the best fit. We are happy to provide our insight through the process and feedback that we would have felt valuable in our own journey to a sell a business.
