Mr. McGregor has over 30 years of technology business experience including executive positions in M&A, private equity, sales, marketing, R&D, and operations. Roughly 11 years ago Mr. McGregor, along with several other investors, purchased WebEquity Solutions, a boutique Software as a Service (SaaS) loan origination system. Under his leadership, Mr. McGregor led the company from a relative unknown to the number one loan origination system in the United States. Mr. McGregor sold the business in 2014 to Moody’s Corporation for roughly 9x revenue producing a 9x ROIC.
Prior to Neul Capital, Mr. McGregor led Global Mergers & Acquisitions within SoftBrands, Inc., a $100M public software company. He built SoftBrands M&A practice from conception to over $30M in acquisitions within an 18-month period. Prior to SoftBrands, Mr. McGregor ran two international divisions as Global Vice President/General Manager for Epicor Software, a $1 billion public software company.
Mr. McGregor earned his BS in computer science from the University of Minnesota, Duluth and is a frequent guest lecturer in the MBA program at the University of St. Thomas, St. Paul, MN.
Mr. Thorndike founded Housatonic Partners in 1994 and has maintained his role as Managing Director ever since. Housatonic is roughly a $1.5 billion dollar Private Equity fund originally based in Boston, MA with expansion to San Francisco, CA in 1998. The Fund’s portfolio consists of over 60 companies catering to the recurring business services, technology and healthcare sectors. Mr. Thorndike is a Director of Carillon Assisted Living, LLC; CONSOL Energy, Inc. (Chair) (NYSE: CNX); Lincoln Peak Holdings, LLC; OASIS Group Ltd.; QMC International, LLC; ZircoDATA; a Trustee of The Stanford Business School Trust; WGBH; the College of the Atlantic (Chair); and a founding partner at FARM, a social impact investing collaborative.
Mr. Thorndike is a graduate of Harvard College and has an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
Mr. Thorndike is an acclaimed author of the business publication, “The Outsiders”, a highly regarded book detailing the winning traits of highly successful business leaders and their companies.
Mr. McGregor has built his career selling in the Software as a Service (SaaS) industry for the past nine years. Over the term of his career, he has exceeded quota in every year of production, been recognized as the top producer and a President’s Club recipient annually. He most recently worked at Moody’s and helped grow a new cloud acquisition into the company’s product portfolio for the past two years.
Previous to Moody’s, Mr. McGregor was the top salesman at a private equity owned software company (WebEquity Solutions) that went through one of the most successful SaaS company exits at roughly 36x GAAP EBITDA and roughly 9x GAAP Revenue. He worked closely with the executive management team as they grew the company from 2009-2014. As a part of that experience, he was exposed to all segments of software business (R&D, services, marketing, finance, and sales) while still producing the most total revenue as an individual producer in the company’s 28-year history.
Mr. McGregor attended Waldorf University and later transferred to the University of Wisconsin Eau-Claire where he earned a BA in Management.
